Electric radiators: how to make the right choice?

Infrared, dry inertia, fluid inertia. 1500 W, 2000 W or 500 W …. It’s hard to choose the right radiator, especially if you don’t have a huge budget, and prefer to buy online rather than endure the Saturday crowds in stores.

It also depends on your project. If you need to rethink your entire system, professional advice is always invaluable. It’s also important to overcome certain prejudices: brand awareness is important, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t compare technologies and models, study the needs of each room, and take into account the living habits of the occupants.

A house or apartment with young children or senior citizens is heated differently from an office space.

You also need to think about the times when the heating will need to be higher: do you need a constant temperature?
Should the room be heated only for specific periods of time, or set differently for day and night?

Occupants’ health and physiological comfort must also be taken into account. Each technology produces a particular type of heat. Inertia or infrared radiators produce much softer, less drying heat than convectors. Convectors are recommended for rooms such as offices, entrance halls and transit areas. For living rooms, where people spend a lot of time, it’s best to opt for an inertia radiator.

Electricity consumption must also be taken into account. It’s better to invest in an electric radiator a little more expensive to buy, but which, thanks to the quality of its manufacture, the technology employed and the materials used, will last longer and consume less. At a time of energy transition and the battle against global warming, the cleanest energy is first and foremost that which we don’t consume, and secondly, that which we consume little! What’s more, our electric fireplaces and radiators offer real savings – up to 25% on your bill for the Chemin’Arte dry inertia heater.

At Chemin’Arte, we have answers for every project configuration, and a network of distributors throughout France, some of whose teams can also help you in-store. We work with distributors selected for their professionalism and reliability. Our technical team is also on hand to help our customers.

Our radiators are designed using dry inertia technology, which stores heat and then releases it slowly. This type of heat is virtually identical to that of central heating. When choosing the size and number of radiators, you’ll need to consider the size of the room. For a room of 20 square meters or more, you’ll need two radiators, to optimize heat distribution in the room. In terms of wattage, 100 W per square metre is considered necessary for rooms to be heated normally, and 125 W per square metre for rooms that need to be a little warmer, such as the bathroom or a baby’s room.
